SPDR Sector & Industry Investing

Daniel J. Braz, CFA, CIMA, Vice President and Head of Intermediary ETF Strategy in the SPDR ETF Business at State Street Global Advisors, will talk about how advisors can incorporate sector investing with ETFs into investment portfolios. Examples will be provided to illustrate four sector strategy implementation approaches: top-down (survey macroeconomic environment and analyze business cycles), thematic (identify secular industry trends and harness a long-term growth trend within a particular segment of the economy), bottom-up, and (evaluate sector fundamentals, such as valuations and earning trends), and technical (overweight/underweight sectors based on momentum and sentiment).

Learning Objective(s):

At the end of this session, advisors will (1) know how to incorporate sector investing with ETFs, (2) understand the four sector strategy implementation approaches, which will enable them to construct suitable portfolio sector portfolios for their clients.

Each topic provides an analysis of the market outlook for the next 6 to 12 months and is supported by charts and concise data and specifically describes the implications for investors.

Advisors will gain a better understanding on key economic and financial market topics and their implications for investors over the next 6 to 12 months. Advisors will learn about economic topics such as the Global Economy, US Economy, European economy, and Emerging Markets.
