A World of Opportunity: Surveying the Global Equity Investing Landscape (1 CFP CEU)

Craig Reynolds, CFA®, Director/Regional Manager - NYC Metro AMG Funds

As the U.S. stock market has delivered stronger returns than international markets during the current cycle, some investors have come to question the need to allocate beyond the U.S. However, while the U.S. stock market has led for the past several years, it is far from clear that it will continue to do so. Investors adding more international exposure now are accessing those markets at more attractive valuations relative to the U.S. The vast size of the global investment universe also offers diversification possibilities in both non-U.S. developed and emerging market equities. While it is impossible to predict next year’s winners, investors who diversify globally may be well positioned to achieve their long-term goals. Learning objective(s): At the end of this session, planners will have a good understanding of: (1) The role of non-U.S. developed and emerging markets equities in diversifying portfolio risk, (2) The significance of a company’s multinational revenue stream, apart from the location of the corporate headquarters, (3) The investment opportunity in highly profitable, multinational businesses outside the U.S, (4) Historically low relative valuations for international equities, (5) Powerful, long-term demographic and macroeconomic trends shaping developing markets, and (6) The opportunity in inefficient global small cap markets. Level of Complexity: Intermediate  Divorce, Death, Disability (1 CFP CEU)
