About The Event

Navigating the Muni and Credit Markets in Today's Environment (1 CFP CEU)

Bradford T. Rutan, CFA, Managing Director, Investment Product Specialist

MFS Investment Management® (MFS®)

Bradford T. Rutan, CFA, is an investment product specialist and managing director leading the retail fixed income product effort on a global basis at MFS Investment Management® (MFS®). His presentation will address the question, "Municipals: Sailing into a storm or a safe harbor?" and take a deep dive into muni market technicals, valuations, fundamentals and positioning. Bradford will explain how to navigate the current credit cycle, discussing how to deal with mini-cycles, where are we at this point in the cycle, and what are the risks and opportunities that planners need to know.

Learning objective(s): At the end of this session, planners will have a good understanding of the municipal and credit markets, including where we are in the cycle, where the opportunities are in the credit markets, now and in the future, and how the municipal bond market offers both risk and opportunity in today's market.

Medicare: Effectively Transitioning at 65 or at Retirement (1 CFP CEU)

Mark Brownstein, CSA®, Director of Medicare, Emerald Medicare

Take the mystery out of Medicare. Educate yourself. Medicare is mandatory in some cases and penalties may be incurred if your client does not sign up when you they are supposed to. Our speaker, Mark Brownstein, CSA®, a Medicare insurance specialist, will provide attendees with the knowledge about the enrollment process and how to choose a plan that's right for a client's individual situation and budget. Finding the right Medicare plan requires careful consideration. If they are turning 65, retiring, or moving to a new address, they need to know the dates for enrollment and plans available in their state or county. Learn how to cover medical expenses that traditional Medicare does not cover. This workshop will help you sort out the many options and plans that are available to Medicare-eligible clients. Click here for program outline.

Learning objective(s):

By the end of this session, attendees will (1) know when, how and who needs to enroll in Medicare, (2) be able to guide clients to make an informed decision regarding their health care insurance options at age 65 or post-retirement, and (3) understand the various options and plans available so that they can help their clients receive all the benefits they are entitled to, as well as find coverage that best suits their budget and current and future health care needs.
